I have divided these 2025 holiday destinations into six regions (South America, Oceana, Middle East, North America, Asia, and Europe). So wherever you are in the world there is a close option. These are the best 2025 Christmas trip ideas.

South America

South America is home to some of the most beautiful countries in the world. Christmas is huge in countries like Brazil, Columbia, and Argentina. These are the best destinations for Christmas in South America.

Rio de Janeiro, brazil

If you are looking for some culture and sun instead of a white Christmas, Rio de Janeiro is perfect. Brazilians celebrate Christmas on the night of the 24th. Many will attend midnight mass and stroll along the Christmas Markets.

While in Rio de Janeiro you must see Christ the Redeemer, Go to Copacabana Beach, and see Sugarloaf Mountain.

Buenos Aires, argentina

Buenos Aires is known as the Paris of South America. The city is full of delicious food and gorgeous architecture, just like Paris. Christmas is a great time to visit Buenos Aires because of the famous fireworks, gorgeous decorations and amazing weather.

While in Buenos Aires be sure to check out Teatro Colon, Plaza de Mayo, and La Boca.

Medellin, Colombia

Medellin has a rough history of gang violence and drugs, but it is now a tourist friendly destination. The colorful street art and amazing views of the mountains make Medellin a once in a lifetime destination. Medellin has amazing weather in December.

Christmas is huge in Australia and New Zealand. If you want more of a sunny and warm vacation head over to Australia's Gold Coast. If you are looking for an adventure make your way to New Zealand for your Christmas trip.

Auckland is a great place to visit during Christmas. Christmas is widely celebrated by New Zealanders. While in Auckland make sure to walk along Queens Street and explore more of the North Island as Auckland is a great home base for exploring.
