6 Hidden Gems In Porto, Portugal

1. Largo da Pena Ventosa

secret spots in Porto

Located in Portos' Jewish Quarter, Largo da Pena Ventosa is certainly one of the best secret spots in Porto. I took me forever to find the charming square (which was part of the fun), but still a bit annoying. Anyway, the best way to find this hidden square is by going to Saint Lawrence Church then go down the steps and you will be right there. Otherwise you will have to wander through hidden alleyways like what I ended up doing.

2. Igreja do Carmo

lesser known attractions in Porto

Igreja do Carmo is a small church located in the heart of Porto, but is often just walked past by tourists. While this church is small, it is packed with beauty - gold details, Portos' famous azulejo tiles, sculptures, and tall arches. Igreja is also completely free to enter!

3. My Coffee Porto

If you are looking for hidden cafes in Porto, this place is it! My Coffee Porto, may be one of the most beautiful coffee shops in the world. Located on the Escadas do Codeçal, My Coffee Porto offers incredible views of the Durno River and the city - the food & coffee is also very good.

4. Pedra dos Gatinhos

quiet places in Porto

Pedra dos Gatinhos is kind of like an alternative scenic spot from the popular Jardim do Morro. I loved Pedra dos Gatinhos because there was no one else there and you can to walk on a dirt path along the river to get there - which made it into a little adventure!

5. Memória da Ponte das Barcas (Lado do Porto)

hidden gems in porto

Oh my goodness it took me forever to figure out where I took this photo! Anyway, I remember this landing in Porto tucked away from the popular Cais da Ribeira. There were these two people who had it all to themselves at the time, they were swimming and had a picnic setup. I thought - wow they are really living the life. This place is called Memória da Ponte das Barcas (Lado do Porto) and it is definitely a worthy hidden gem in Porto to checkout.

The Bishops' Palace is a must on any trip to Porto, but when you get inside the palace don't miss the views of the Douro River. The windows are outside of the main museum part of the palace, so make sure to go into the hallways to find the stunning views.
