TAP Air is Portugal's national airline. With flights that connect Portugal with destinations all over the world, if you are planning a trip to Portugal you have probably come across TAP Air. I flew economy in TAP Air from Boston to Barcelona with a stopover in Lisbon. In this economy TAP Air Review we will go over the good and bad of the Portuguese airline. Read on to discover the Economy TAP Air Portugal Review for 2025.

About TAP Air Portugal

TAP Air Portugal Frequent Flyer Program - TAP Air does have a frequent flyer program called TAP & Go. With TAP & Go you can earn miles with flights or everyday activities and use them to buy trips.

TAP Air Alliance - TAP Air is a part of the the Star Alliance. With the Star Alliance you will be able to have shard loyalty benefits with other Star Alliance Airlines. Some perks include easy connections, easy booking process, and more.

Where To Book a TAP Air Portugal Flight - Always book your flights via the airlines website for a seamless flying experience. You can book your TAP flight here on the TAP Air Portugal website.

Booking Your TAP Air Portugal Flight

Booking a flight with TAP is similar to other airlines, it is, however, a bit glitchy. If you are trying to find the cheapest day to fly the website can be difficult. I would recommend using google flights to find the exact flight you want and then booking it on TAP's website. The prices may also go up if you keep refreshing the website.

Always book your flight on the TAP Air Portugal website.

TAP Air Pre-Flight

Once your flight is booked you will get an email with your confirmation code. When it is 48 hours before the flight (or 24 hours if you are coming from the US) you will get another email for check in. TAP Air Portugal check in is similar to other airlines. You may need to put your passport information in again if you are not from Portugal.

TAP Air Security

The TAP Security varies from airport to airport and terminal to terminal. But for my flight out of Boston I found it to be simple. At Boston Logan TAP operates out of the JetBlue Terminal rather than the international terminal, so security was quick for me!

TAP Terminals

Again, it depends on the airport. Each terminal is different. I found that the Lisbon airport was pretty good for economy. I mean it was very busy, but not terrible. I found that most European airports are similar.

TAP Planes

TAP Portugal uses many different types of planes. They are the Airbus A330-200, Airbus A319, Airbus A330-900neo, Airbus A320, Airbus A321, Airbus A321LR, Embraer E190, Boeing 737-200 and -300, Boeing 747-200, and the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar.

For short flights TAP uses the Airbus A321, A320, and A319 but for longer flights they use Airbus A321LR and the Airbus A330-900neo. I had both a long and short flight with TAP.

For the long flight from Boston to Lisbon there were three rows of seats, which its typical for transatlantic economy flights. We also had dinner and breakfast service on board along with an entertainment system with plenty of options.

For the shorter flight from Lisbon to Barcelona there were two rows of seats with two seats in each row. There was no snack or meal service on this flight.

TAP Air Economy Seats

You will get around 28 inches in legroom in an economy seat. As someone who is 5' 7 I fit comfortably. For long haul flights you will have a meal service or two. Overall I felt comfortable on this airline.
