About The Blue Lagoon
The Blue Lagoon is located in the amazing country of Iceland. The gorgeous light blue water that fill that lagoon averages at around 100 degrees fahrenheit. When To Visit The Blue Lagoon
Iceland is quite cold year round but colder in the winters and a bit warmer in the summers. The best time to see the northern lights is the fall and winter months. The summer is a tiny bit warmer in iceland so if you want to do more outdoor activities than go in the summer!
8 Essential Tips for Visiting Iceland's Blue Lagoon
1. You are Required To Shower
Before you can even enter the Blue Lagoon you have to shower in the locker rooms. (Don't worry the locker rooms are very nice) The Blue Lagoon provides their own brand shampoo, conditioner and body wash. You can also buy all of their products in the gift shop.
I was a bit surprised that it was required to shower but it really is a good thing.
2. Watch Out For Your Hair

You cannot put your hair in the water at the Blue Lagoon. The Blue Lagoon has a ton of minerals in the water. So if you put your hair in the water it will leave your hair dry and stiff.
I would recommend putting conditioner in your hair before entering the lagoon. That way if your hair accidentally touches the water it will have protection.
3. Know What Is Included

While I was at the Blue Lagoon I bought the cheapest ticket. This included a face mask and a drink.
The other passes were not much different so I would definitely recommend buying the cheapest pass because you will get a lot out of it for the price.
4. Money

Oh my goodness Iceland is expensive! If you are planning a trip here plan ahead for the expense of just being here. At the Blue Lagoon my avocado toast was $15!
If you are planning on eating at the Blue Lagoon or doing any shopping in the gift store don't be surprised if you drop a few hundred dollars.
5. The Blue Lagoon Is a Hotel

Did you know that you can stay at the Blue Lagoon. If you want a relaxing vacation this place is perfect. They have a wonderful spa and of course you can go to the Blue Lagoon whenever you want.
To stay at The Blue Lagoon is very expensive but I think that it is worth it even if you just stay for a night.
For a more affordable option near the Blue Lagoon is The Northern Lights Inn.
6. The Blue Lagoon is a Perfect Stopover Activity
Both of Iceland's airlines, Play and Icelandic, are stopover airlines. Stopover airlines are airlines that will basically fit a trip into a trip. Say you are flying from Boston to Paris on Play airlines you will have to stop in Reykjavik. You can choose a stopover that is longer or shorter depending on how long you want in Iceland.
When I went to Iceland I choose a 10 hour layover and it was the perfect amount of time for the Blue Lagoon.
7. The Blue Lagoon Is Not In Reykjavik

I thought that the Blue Lagoon was in Reykjavik until I arrived. Turns out that the Blue Lagoon is actually in Grindavik.
Grindavik is actually closer to the airport than Reykjavik so you will have more time at the Blue Lagoon. I booked this bus transfer straight from the airport.
8. You Can See The Northern Lights In The Blue Lagoon
Did you know that you can see the Northern Lights while in the Blue Lagoon. That would be seriously magical. The Blue Lagoon is open from 7am - 12am.
